We met on a Sunday afternoon in May 2025 at Perry's, a beloved San Francisco institution. What started as a casual conversation quickly turned memorable when I mentioned that I was heading to New England for my 25th-year reunion at my boarding school, Williston, followed by a birthday trip to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. Without missing a beat, Alex launched into a spirited story about the Figawi charity regatta - complete with a salty Boston accent for dramatic effect. It instantly caught my attention. Having spent time working regattas with California Yacht Club in Marina del Rey and a summer sailing camp in Lake Como, Italy, I was drawn in by our shared love of storytelling and easy conversation. That chance meeting turned into something more, and we began dating soon after. We've been inseparable ever since.
